Dear Cub Scout Parent
Pack 903 is planning a Rocket launch activity on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
You and your cub scout will purchase and assemble your rocket minus the engine.
The engine and launch pad will be supplied the Pack leadership. Therefore,
I need to know who will participate so that I have enough engines. If
necessary, we will provide two launch pads manned by Pack leaders.
I have received some registrations and need to know who else will participate by Monday November 28. I will purchase the rockets on Tuesday November 29.
SAFETY CONCERNS: BSA rules forbid boys less than 11 years of age to set up or launch rockets. They must bring their rockets without the engine to
the adult leader in charge, and stay away 12 feet from rocket Launch
pad. They will recover their own rockets when they parachute down.
I know that the boys would love to set up their own rockets, attach the
connections and push the button. Unfortunately this is not allowed since
none of our boys are over 11 years old.
Non-compliance may lead to disciplinary action on the entire Pack and even loss of our charter.
If you do not feel comfortable following this rule, you should not to attend this event.
The safety of our boys is our primary concern on all activities
sanctioned by BSA and the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, our
chartered organization.
Specific information on type of rockets to purchase and assemble will be sent to those that register for the event.
This, as before, promises to be a lot of fun for our boys.
