Camp Capers Campout - 2016
Dear Cub Scout Parent
The Episcopal Church of the Hoy Spirit, our Chartered Organization, has
invited us to campout at Camp Capers simultaneously with its Annual
Retreat.
Camp Capers is a property owned and operated by the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas.
There is a Promotional Video that you can watch below that shows you
some of the camp's features. I have attended several retreats at Camp
Capers and can say that it is very nice. The whole property is about 187
acres with a river crossing it.
Below is a link to a promotional video about the facilities
http://www.dwtx.org/departments/camps/
The specific dates are October Friday October 28 to Sunday October 30.
The camping trip is open to parents and siblings of the Pack 903 Cub
Scouts, which means immediate family members of the same household can
attend. The cost of the campout will be determine
once we have received cost information from the Church.
I will be developing a budget with the Treasurer and will advise on final cost. This will include some form of subsidy thanks to the boys that sold popcorn or Yankee Candles.
Preliminary program Outline:
Friday – Set up tents & Cracker Barrel (Snacks, fresh fruits, water)
Saturday Morning - Breakfast Prepared by campers
Activities (After breakfast, returning to campsite for lunch)

Activities:
Square Dance (After dinner)
Bon Fire & S’mores (In our campsite)
Sunday
Breakfast: (I am asking for availability and cost of
having breakfast in the dining hall – Otherwise we will need to cook or
unpack our own)
Mass with Holy Eucharist in Outdoor Chapel (Attendance is optional).
If anyone would like to organize a different type of religious service, please see me to make arrangements to provide the space.
Departure by noontime.
What we need right now is a count of how many families
are interested and also how many would come to the campout (number of
scouts, number of minor siblings, how many parents – one or two)
This will help us determine if the interest level warrants to have the
campout and give a “heads –up” to camp staff regarding Saturday dinner
arrangements.
So please respond to Alfredo with your level of interest and or any questions by Monday, September 5, 2016.
We hope that many of you can attend this Pack Camping event and that Mother Nature does not spoil our plans.
Once we have a list of potential attendees, we will have a get together
to plan meals, activities, etc., and recruit volunteers to handle the
different aspect of the campout. I will be facilitaing the planning of
the campout. The Campmaster will be Mr. Greg, our Cubmaster.
YIS
Alfredo
