Dear Friends & Cub Scout
Parents:
This note is
further to reminders sent by Diana – Outside Activities Coordinator –
I apologize for any redundancies.
Tomorrow is a special day for our cub scouts. They will
have the opportunity to honor our fallen soldiers jointly with many other scouts
from the area’s packs and troops by planting flags at the graves of our fallen
soldiers.
Participation counts as a summer time activity (three
are needed to earn the “Summertime Activity Patch”). If you did not sign your
boy up, he can still participate. If he does, please notify Diana so
that he gets credit.
We normally
meet by the flagpole. Sections of the cemetery are assigned by pack/troop by the
organizers. This is normally announced immediately after the opening
ceremony.
As of last
night, only four boys had been signed up to
participate. If you do
not have other plans for tomorrow afternoon, I encourage you to attend with your
cub scout.
Below are
instructions issued by the Alamo Area BSA
Council.
“The opening ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 PM at
the Assembly Area located on the far East Side of the Cemetery near the
administrative offices. Enter using Nursery Road and PLEASE DO NOT park off
Harry Wurzbach Road.
WHAT TO BRING: Water, Sunscreen, Hat, Umbrella
(protection from rain or sun), Screwdriver & Mallet for ease in placing
flags
WHAT TO WEAR: Scout Uniform
Recommended”
